Marrakech

Marrakech is a city in the southwest of Morocco and was built in 1070. It is also called "perl of the south". In Marrakech's old town there are several architecturally impressive buildings such as the Kasbah (from the 12th century), the Koutoubia Mosque (from 1162) and the Ben-Youssef-Madrasa (from the 14th century). For that reason the old town together with the Menara and Agdal Gardens have been declared as UNESCO world heritage in 1985. The main attraction of the city is Djemaa el-Fna (meeting of the dead). This is a world famous medieval market and execution place, which is nowadays a busy area of oriental storytellers, snake charmers and jesters.

Anchor Bay

The Anchor Bay is a bay in the northwest of the island Malta. The famous movie Popeye the Sailor Man was shot in this place. Until the shooting, the bay was a calm spot that was only known by a few divers and the inhabitants. For the movie the scenery city Popeye Village with the wooden buildings and boardwalks arose. Meanwhile the scenery was rebuilt into a leisure park. Anchor Bay is now a popular location for diving and snorkeling. It is also to be recommended to see the Scorpion Cave which is located 8 meters below the water surface.

Hanoi

Hanoi is the capital city of Vietnam and means "city within rivers". Currently, the public transport is carried out entirely by busses but an underground train system is under construction. Special sights are the old town, the Hoan Kiem Lake, the citadel Thang Long as well as the Thăng Long Water Puppet Theatre. The Hoan Kiem Lake is also called Swart Lake, is about 700 meters long and the most famous Lake of Hanoi. The citadel has a total area of 140 hectare whereby the central part that covers 20 hectares, was declared to be a world heritage site by UNESCO in 2000. The Water Puppet Theatre exists only in Vietnam. In this staging the set consist of a water basin. The welcoming of the audience is carried out by a small orchestra which accompanies the entire piece. And the orchestra members lend their voices to the puppets.

Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu means "old peak" and is a city of ruins in Peru. It is located on a ridge at 2,360 meters altitude and was built in 1450. Machu Picchu was included in the UNESCO world heritage list in 1983. The city is regarded as one of South America's most popular tourist destinations and has about 2,000 visitors every day.  

Cape Town

Cape Town is the second largest city of South Africa and is visited by tourist especially between October and March. One of the most popular tourist attractions is the Table Mountain, the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront as well as the Long Street. The latter is an entertainment mile where there are bars and restaurants and also nightclubs. A further very popular tourist destination is the former prison island Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela ( 5 December 2013) was arrested. The Island belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999.

Kefalonia

Kefalonia is a Greek island and the largest of the Ionian Islands. British tourists are well known for spending their summer vacation in Kefalonia. Many Italians enjoy spending their time on a boat here. The main attraction of the island is the underground lake Melissani with the cave of the same name. It is especially during lunchtime beautiful to look at because then a lot of daylight enters the grot. Another stalactite cave is very close and bears the name Drogarati. Out of the numerous beaches, the pebble beach Myrtos is to be recommended because this one is framed by a steep face which offers a beautiful view of the beach.

Saint Petersburg

Saint Petersburg is the second largest city of Russia behind Moscow. The city is famous for its so-called "white nights", this means that the daylight stays even at night. The nights are due to the special location of the city and occur during the time of midsummer. Furthermore, the Neva River which lies partly within Saint Petersburg, adds a romantic touch to the city. About 2,400 and this means 15% of the buildings in Saint Petersburg were classified as architectural history by the UNESCO. Especially worth seeing are the TV tower which is the highest building in the city and the Hermitage which is one of the most important art museums worldwide.
